These Terms apply to all users of the Service, including parents, coaches, and children. If you are a parent creating an account for your child, you agree to these Terms on behalf of yourself and your child.

2. Description of Service

CoachMyChess is an AI-powered chess coaching platform that provides:

• Chess game analysis and feedback
• Personalized puzzle practice based on detected weaknesses
• Progress tracking and reporting for parents
• Coach collaboration features
• Educational content and resources

3. Account Registration

3.1 Parent Accounts

• You must be at least 18 years old to create a parent account
• You must provide accurate and complete information
• You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account
• You are responsible for all activities under your account

3.2 Child Accounts

• Child accounts are created and managed by parents
• Parents must provide consent for children under 13 (COPPA compliance)
• Children use PIN-based login (no email required)
• Parents have full control and visibility over child accounts

4. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

• Use the Service for any illegal purpose or in violation of any laws
• Upload malicious code, viruses, or harmful content
• Attempt to gain unauthorized access to the Service or other accounts
• Interfere with or disrupt the Service or servers
• Impersonate any person or entity
• Collect or harvest information about other users
• Use automated systems to access the Service without permission
• Share your account credentials with others
• Use the Service to harass, abuse, or harm others

5. User Content

5.1 Your Content

You retain ownership of any content you upload to the Service, including chess games, images, and profile information. By uploading content, you grant us a license to use, store, and process that content to provide the Service.

You are responsible for ensuring that any content you upload:

• Does not violate any laws or third-party rights
• Is accurate and not misleading
• Does not contain offensive, harmful, or inappropriate material
• Does not infringe on intellectual property rights

We reserve the right to remove any content that violates these Terms or is otherwise objectionable, at our sole discretion.

6. Intellectual Property

The Service, including its design, features, and content (except user-uploaded content), is owned by CoachMyChess and protected by copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws.

You may not copy, modify, distribute, sell, or lease any part of the Service without our written permission.

7. Subscription and Payment

7.1 Subscription Plans

CoachMyChess offers both free and paid subscription plans. Paid plans are billed on a monthly or annual basis.

7.2 Payment Terms

• Payment is due in advance for the subscription period
• All fees are non-refundable except as required by law
• We reserve the right to change pricing with 30 days' notice
• Failed payments may result in service suspension

7.3 Cancellation

You may cancel your subscription at any time. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period. You will continue to have access to paid features until the end of the period.

8. Service Availability

We strive to provide reliable service but do not guarantee that the Service will be available at all times. The Service may be unavailable due to:

• Scheduled maintenance
• Technical issues or outages
• Force majeure events
• Third-party service disruptions

We are not liable for any loss or damage resulting from Service unavailability.

9. Disclaimers

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, OR NON-INFRINGEMENT.

We do not warrant that:

• The Service will be uninterrupted or error-free
• Defects will be corrected
• The Service is free of viruses or harmful components
• Game analysis or recommendations are 100% accurate

10. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, COACHMYCHESS SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS OR REVENUES, WHETHER INCURRED DIRECTLY OR INDIRECTLY, OR ANY LOSS OF DATA, USE, GOODWILL, OR OTHER INTANGIBLE LOSSES.

Our total liability for any claims arising from or related to the Service shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim.

11. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless CoachMyChess, its officers, directors, employees, and agents from any claims, damages, losses, liabilities, and expenses (including legal fees) arising from:

• Your use of the Service
• Your violation of these Terms
• Your violation of any third-party rights
• Content you upload to the Service

12. Termination

12.1 By You

You may terminate your account at any time by deleting your account in the settings or contacting us.

12.2 By Us

We may suspend or terminate your account if you violate these Terms, engage in fraudulent activity, or for any other reason at our sole discretion.

12.3 Effect of Termination

Upon termination, your right to use the Service will immediately cease. We may delete your account and data, subject to our data retention policies.

13. Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of California, United States, without regard to its conflict of law provisions.

14. Changes to Terms

We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. We will notify you of material changes by posting the updated Terms on this page and updating the "Last updated" date. Your continued use of the Service after changes become effective constitutes acceptance of the new Terms.
