Connect CoachMyChess to Your AI Assistant

Ask how your child's practice is going, get today's workout, and add games from a scoresheet photo, all by chatting with Muse or Claude. You approve the connection, and you can remove it anytime.

Before you start

You need a free CoachMyChess parent account with at least one child profile. The connector only works for the parent who signs in, and only for that parent's own children.

Muse

By Meta

  1. In Muse, add a new connector.
  2. Paste the connector URL above.
  3. When Muse asks for a Client ID, paste the one below. You don't need a client secret.
  4. Sign in with your CoachMyChess parent account and approve access.

Client ID

Claude

By Anthropic

  1. In Claude, open Settings → Connectors and choose Add custom connector.
  2. Name it CoachMyChess and paste the connector URL above.
  3. Click Connect, sign in with your CoachMyChess parent account, and approve access.

Claude registers itself automatically, so no Client ID is needed.

Signed in already? The URL and Client ID are also on the AI Assistants page in your dashboard, where you can also choose what your assistant calls each child.

Things to ask

“How is Maya doing with her chess practice?”
“What should Leo work on today?”
“Here's a photo of Maya's tournament scoresheet. She was White and won. Add the game.”
“Which of Leo's weaknesses is the most serious right now?”

When your assistant reads a handwritten scoresheet, it should read the moves back to you before adding the game. A misread move can still be a legal one.

What your assistant can do

The connector offers exactly four actions. Three only read; one adds a game.

See your children

list_children
Read

Lists the children on your account by first name (or a nickname you set), with each child's current rating.

Check progress

get_child_progress
Read

Returns a child's top chess weaknesses right now (for example, missing forks or hanging pieces) and how serious each one is.

Get today's workout

get_todays_workout
Read

Returns the child's adaptive practice set for today: the kind of exercise, its theme and difficulty. It's the same workout the child sees in the app.

Add a game

submit_game
Write

Adds a game (in PGN notation, for example transcribed from a scoresheet photo) to one child's game history. Every move is checked. If a move is illegal, the reply names it so it can be corrected.

Add a training set

create_training_set
Write

Adds a set of puzzles built from one child's own mistakes. Every position and move is checked, and nothing is saved if any puzzle is wrong. For the next 30 days the set leads the child's daily workout, a few new puzzles at a time, and missed puzzles come back for review a few days later.

The connector can't delete anything, change settings, message anyone, or make purchases.

What's shared, and what isn't

Your assistant can see

  • Each child's first name, or the nickname you choose
  • An internal child ID (a random string, not linked to anything outside CoachMyChess)
  • Each child's chess rating, weaknesses and today's practice workout
  • Games you or your assistant add, and whether a game was already on file
  • Training sets your assistant adds, and whether one with that title already exists

Never shared

  • Email addresses, last names, birthdays or photos
  • Your child's PIN, login or device details
  • Chess platform usernames (Chess.com, Lichess)
  • Anything about other families, coaches or students

Parent consent. Only a signed-in parent can connect, through a standard OAuth sign-in and approval screen. Children can't connect an assistant.

Your children only. Every request is checked against the signed-in parent's account. There's no way to reach another family's data.

Remove it anytime. Remove the connector in your assistant, or email support@coachmychess.com and we'll revoke its access.

Once your assistant has received information, the assistant provider's own privacy policy applies to it. Read the full CoachMyChess Privacy Policy.
